TSA should stay: Eddie Ng

October 26, 2015

Secretary for Education Eddie Ng says the Territory-wide System Assessment (TSA) is an important tool for assessing students' ability and should not be abolished easily.

Speaking to reporters today, Mr Ng said the TSA provides data on students' academic ability based on which schools can make the necessary adjustment in teaching strategy.

He said a similar assessment is used in other countries and it will be a big step backward for Hong Kong to abolish the TSA.

Mr Ng said he has heard a lot of opinions on the matter and most of the opposing views are on its execution rather than its objective and design.

The Government will continue to listen to the views of stakeholders and make any needed improvements, he added.
