Protesters urged to obey court orders

November 11, 2014

Acting Chief Executive Carrie Lam urges protesters to leave occupied areas voluntarily and peacefully, after the High Court's decision yesterday to continue the injunction over the illegal occupation of roads in Mong Kok and the blockage of access to CITIC Tower.

Addressing the media ahead the Executive Council meeting this morning, Mrs Lam noted an injunction is a solemn court order which everyone should fully respect and strictly follow.

The court has already authorised the bailiff to request Police assistance where necessary and has authorised the Police to arrest and remove anyone obstructing or interfering with a bailiff in enforcing the orders.

Police will give full assistance, including making arrests where necessary to enforce the orders as the court instructs, she added.

She said the Government is committed to safeguarding the rule of law, noting that it is the cornerstone of Hong Kong's success, foundation of democracy and an important core value.
