Protesters urged to give way

(September 29, 2014)

Police urge Occupy Central protesters to stay calm, and to stop charging Police cordon lines and occupying main roads, so that roads can be re-opened to emergency and public vehicles.

In a statement issued this morning, Police noted that protesters outside the Central Government Complex and at various locations in Kowloon and on Hong Kong Island have blocked the roads for an extended period, seriously affecting people's daily lives and public transport and emergency services.

It also reiterated that police officers have exercised restraint and performed their duties in a highly professional manner. Measures have also been taken to minimise the chance of protesters getting injured.

Police will closely monitor the situation to ensure public order and public safety.
