Gov’t determined to increase home supply
January 19, 2013
Secretary for Transport & Housing Prof Anthony Cheung says the Government knows there is very strong demand for public housing, so it will increase the supply of public rental housing and subsidised home ownership flats.
Speaking to media today, Prof Cheung said the over-subscription for the Greenview Villa project and the huge number of applicants for the White Form Scheme showed there is very strong demand for subsidised housing.
Even if the Government decides to provide a certain number of subsidised or public housing units, it will take several years for the buildings to be constructed.
"So I hope the public will understand the actual changes at the point of delivery, unavoidably we have to wait for a few years. But I hope the public will acknowledge there is huge determination on the part of the administration to increase supply in housing, particularly public housing."
