Secretary for Development Carrie Lam says she is pleased no confrontation ensued during the Lands Department's operation to remove illegal structures erected on Government land in Tai Tong Lychee Valley today.
The contractors were backed by Police officers during today's operation, after villagers obstructed demolition work yesterday.
Speaking to the media, Mrs Lam said the villagers understand the Government’s determination in conducting land administration work.
She said Secretary for Security Ambrose Lee supported the enforcement action and he asked Police to facilitate the operation.
Mrs Lam urged villagers to co-operate with the Government to remove illegal structures in the New Territories to avoid confrontation. She also asked them to report illegal structures.
