Yuen Long illegal structures to go

The Lands Department will arrange a contractor to remove structures erected on unleased Government land outside the Tai Lam Country Park starting next week.
 
In response to media enquiries, the department said today the Tai Tong Lychee Valley Co. Ltd. had applied to the District Lands Office/Yuen Long for short-term tenancy for several structures.
 
The Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Department and the office rejected the application. A notice has been posted requiring the occupant to remove the structures before May 19.
 
Lands officers today inspected the land and found the structures - which include porches straddling private and Government land, a gateway, a toilet and a refrigerated container - remain on the site. 
 
The office is getting legal advice regarding prosecution and claims for removal costs.
