The Centre for Health Protection has learned of an avian influenza A (H5N1) case in Yunnan, involving a six-year-old boy.
The boy lives in Chuxiong and was admitted to hospital on March 25. He has now recovered.
The centre reminds people not to visit live poultry markets and farms, and to avoid contact with poultry, birds or their droppings.
