Dried bean curd alert issued

January 06, 2015

The Centre for Food Safety today urged consumers not to eat seven kinds of pre-packed dried bean curd imported from Taiwan as they contain the banned colouring agent Dimethyl yellow.

It has also asked the trade to stop selling and to recall the product immediately.

Manufactured by Yu Hsiang Food Co., Ltd, the affected products include Satay Dried Bean Curd, Pepper Dried Bean Curd, Mushrooms Dried Bean Curd, Garlic Dried Bean Curd, Meat Dried Bean Curd, Chicken Powder Dried Bean Curd and Sesame Dried Bean Curd.

The centre today received notification from the Taiwanese authorities which uncovered the case during an investigation into the recent detection of Dimethyl yellow in a dried bean curd sample the centre reported earlier.

The centre said it will continue to monitor the situation and the recall.
