CS joins volunteer campaign
May 26, 2013
Chief Secretary Carrie Lam visited two grassroots families in Sham Shui Po today with other volunteers, as part of the Agency for Volunteer Service’s Share-To-Care volunteer campaign, under the "Hong Kong: Our Home" campaign.
Mrs Lam first went to Pei Ho Street to visit a South Asian family with six children to learn more about their living, education and employment situation. The family has been in Hong Kong for many years.
She then visited and chatted with an elderly couple who live in a sub-divided flat nearby.
Secretary for the Civil Service Paul Tang and Director of Social Welfare Patrick Nip also participated in the volunteer campaign and visited needy families.
The campaign formed part of Hong Kong Positive Energy Day, with nearly 2,000 volunteers taking part. They went in teams to visit grassroots families in Sham Shui Po to foster public support for voluntary service and a caring community.
