French connection:  Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Gregory So attends a reception in Burgundy.

Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Gregory So attended a reception and visited a company to end his visit to France.

Speaking at a reception hosted by the Regional Council of Burgundy yesterday, he said Hong Kong offers a business-friendly environment for French enterprises.

He said the city is underpinned by the rule of law and an independent judiciary, has a low and simple tax regime and the free flow of information, capital and goods, and has a superb transport and communications infrastructure.

Hong Kong is a "super-connector" between Mainland China and the world, making it the fastest and most efficient route to the huge opportunities offered by the booming Asian market for French businesses, he said.

Before the reception, Mr So visited a local company specialising in innovative CCTV solutions.

He will next join Chief Executive CY Leung in Toronto and Chicago.
