Acting CE meets Yunnan governor

(May 18, 2015)

Acting Chief Executive Carrie Lam met with Yunnan Province Governor Chen Hao at the Chief Executive's Office this morning.

Mrs Lam said that the country is pressing ahead with the "One Belt, One Road" initiative, which could provide a promising future for Hong Kong-Yunnan co-operation.

She added that Hong Kong could act as a "super-connector" for Yunnan's development, particularly in the areas of financial and professional services, trade, maritime and tourism, to complement its implementation of "attracting investment" and "going global" strategies.

Noting that Hong Kong and Yunnan belong to the Pan-Pearl River Delta provinces/regions and enjoy close economic and trade relations, Mrs Lam hoped the two places could continue to make use of the delta platform to strengthen co-operation and bring about mutual benefits.
