Hong Kong has participated at the Venice Biennale on eight occasions, and this year marked the second time that the Hong Kong Arts Development Council and the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority have jointly presented a Hong Kong artist at the Biennale.

Mrs Lam also attended the Chinese Pavilion's opening ceremony. On a preview of the Hong Kong Pavilion, she saw video installations by talented young Hong Kong artist Tsang Kin-wah. She officiated at the Hong Kong Pavilion's opening in her capacity as West Kowloon Cultural District Authority Chairman.

In her opening address, Mrs Lam said the West Kowloon Cultural District is a leading example of the Government's commitment to promoting arts and culture in Hong Kong. She invited people to visit Hong Kong and the West Kowloon Cultural District in the years to come and enjoy an extraordinary cultural experience that embraces the best of East and West.

Mrs Lam also paid a visit to the Macau Pavilion, next to Hong Kong's.

Mrs Lam met with Venice Biennale President Paolo Baratta, to exchange views on arts development, and attended a biennale reception.
