'HK: Our Home' mascots debut
August 31, 2013
Four campaign mascots - Lovely Bud, Energy, May and Fresh - made their debut today, to promote the "Hong Kong: Our Home" Campaign.
They were selected as mascots after a Create Hong Kong organised a design competition in conjunction with the Hong Kong Digital Entertainment Association.
Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Gregory So announced the results at the prize presentation ceremony today.
The competition had four categories, corresponding to four themes under the "Hong Kong: Our Home" Campaign - "Hip Hong Kong", "Vibrant Hong Kong", "Caring Hong Kong" and "Fresh Hong Kong".
A professional jury short-listed four entries among 646 entries in each category for the public voting phase, and the four mascots received the highest number of votes.
Lovely Bud, representing "Hip Hong Kong", was created by interior designer Tony Lau, and is described as a girl who loves daydreaming and is creative, pioneering and fashionable, who reflects the beauty of art and technology, and has a youthful frame of mind.
Energy, representing "Vibrant Hong Kong", and May, representing "Caring Hong Kong", were both designed by Ieong Ka-kei, who works at a bank. He describes Energy as an energetic boy who loves playing football, while May is a kind and considerate girl who helps and cares for people in need.
Fresh, developed by design professional Kwan Kit-yi, was chosen as the mascot for "Fresh Hong Kong", who has a smiling face, leaves and flowers on her body. Fresh's happy character is intended to inject positive energy and freshness into society.
The Mascot Design Competition is one of the core programmes of Hong Kong Ani-Com Summer 2013, a "Hong Kong: Our Home" Campaign event.
