Wang Chau project to be explained

(September 20, 2016)

The Government will brief the media on details of the Wang Chau development tomorrow afternoon, Chief Executive CY Leung announced.

Ahead of the Executive Council meeting today, Mr Leung said he, together with Financial Secretary John Tsang and officials of the Development Bureau and the Transport & Housing Bureau, will attend the briefing.

He noted that the Government is determined to build 17,000 public housing flats in Wang Chau and would like to set up a platform on the development of brownfield sites.

He called on newly-elected legislator Eddie Chu and people concerned about the brownfield site, to participate in the platform to work out a plan for Wang Chau.

Mr Leung said the whole Government as a team is striving to solve the housing problem.

Due to the Government’s effort in the past four years, property and rental prices have been dropping from their peak, he added.
