Superstar Lin Dai retrospective on display

The Legend & The Beauty - An Archival Exhibition
Behind the legend: The exhibition will display Lin Dai's bedroom and furniture until November 1.

An exhibition showcasing superstar Lin Dai's life and career are on display until November 1 at the Hong Kong Film Archive.

 

Lin's belongings - including furniture, fashion accessories, oil and photo portraits, award trophies, costumes and other precious archival materials - will be shown.

 

Lin was a legendary superstar in Hong Kong cinema. She started her career in 1950. Her premiere "Singing under the Moon" (1953) was a great success. Her performance in "Golden Lotus" (1957) also won her the first Best Actress Award at the 4th Asian Film Festival at the age of 23.

 

A free seminar titled "Lin Dai: The Star, the Actress, the Legend" will be held at 4.30pm on August 22 at the film archive cinema. Lung Tzong-hann, actress Fung Bo-bo and writer Peter Dunn will share their views and personal experience with Lin Dai in Cantonese.

 

A selection of 18 titles featuring Lin's performances including The Kingdom and the Beauty, Beyond the Great Wall, Diau Charn, The Last Woman of Shang, Madam White Snake and Golden Lotus will also be shown until October 4 at the archive's cinema.
