A musical message of love and peace

HK Oratorio Society concert
Music maestro: Music Director Chan Wing-wah will conduct the Oratorio Society's upcoming Let There Be Peace On Earth shows.

The Oratorio Society will send a message of love and peace in their forthcoming Choral Music Appreciation Series: Let There Be Peace On Earth concerts.

 

They will take place on June 1 at City Hall and on June 7 at Tsuen Wan Town Hall, both from 8pm.

 

The programme consists of Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring by Bach, excerpts from Handel's Messiah, excerpts from Haydn's The Creation, excerpts from Mendelssohn's Elijah, Fill the World with Love by Bricusse, For the Beauty of the Earth by Rutter, The Lord is My Shepherd by Chan Wing-wah and Let There Be Peace On Earth by Jackson & Miller.

 

Music Director Chan Wing-wah will conduct, with Penelope Chan, Andis Au Yeung, May Chan, Dorothy Hung, Tam Yu-leung, Simon Chan and Enoch Young as the soloists. The Hong Kong Strings, Wong Kin-yu and Peter Yue will provide the accompaniment. The evenings' presenter will be Nancy Loo.

 

Founded in 1956 and with a membership of more than 100 singers, the Oratorio Society is the oldest, largest, and most active choir in Hong Kong, presenting more than 300 concerts of major choral works by classical and contemporary composers.

 

Tickets are $120, $90 and $60 for the City Hall show, and $100, $80 and $60 for the Tsuen Wan performance, and are available at URBTIX outlets.
