Police have arrested three men and seized three pistols following an attempted robbery in Tsim Sha Tsui today. Officers fired two shots but no casualty was reported.

The incident happened when officers mounted an intelligence-based operation on Kimberley Road. At about 10.45am, three workers unloaded some watch parts from a van parked at its junction with Observatory Road.

Two men alighted from a private car driven by a third man near the van. The two men then walked towards the vehicle and declared robbery. Officers then approached the three culprits, one of whom was holding a pistol-like object. They tried to return to the private car. Two officers fired when the culprits refused to stop.

Their car was intercepted by a Police van and the men were arrested. Searching the area and the car, officers found three genuine pistols with 21 rounds of ammunition.

The three men, aged 33 to 38, have been detained for enquiries while investigations continue.
