    North Point traffic accident claims second life

    A traffic accident in North Point last night has claimed a second life, that of a 23-year-old woman. She was rushed to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital after the accident, which happened just before 6pm. She was certified dead at 10.17pm.

     

    A five-year-old girl was certified dead upon her arrival at the same hospital. Six others, two men and four women aged from 3 to 50, were injured in the crash and taken to Ruttonjee Hospital.

     

    Police arrested a 36-year-old woman for dangerous driving causing death, after her car collided with a taxi at the junction of Victoria Park Road and Hing Fat Street.

     

    After the impact, the rear of her car swerved onto a safety island, hitting the eight people who were standing on it.

     

    A 28-year-old man remains in hospital. The other five injured were treated and released.

     

    The driver of the private car has been released on $5,000 bail and must report back to Police on February 13.

     

    Investigations by the Special Investigation Team, Traffic Hong Kong Island are proceeding.
