Hong Kong will hold its largest ever legal services forum on the Mainland on July 6 in Shanghai to coincide with the Expo, with 400 people, mainly from Shanghai and nearby cities, expected to attend.
Organised by the Department of Justice, the theme of the Hong Kong Legal Services Forum will be "Hong Kong Legal Services - Global Vision". A high-level Hong Kong contingent led by Secretary for Justice Wong Yan Lung will also take part.
Forum speakers will include top Hong Kong solicitors, barristers and arbitrators who will share their experiences in practical legal issues, like international trade, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, commercial dispute resolution, procedural and evidentiary issues in arbitration and the enforcement of arbitral awards.
Mr Wong said: "As Shanghai plays host to Expo 2010, this will be an opportune time for Hong Kong to demonstrate our strength as a regional centre of legal services and dispute resolution.
"I believe Hong Kong is in a position to share our experience with the corporate and legal sectors of the Mainland."
