3 airlines to cut fuel surcharges

Civil Aviation Department

The Civil Aviation Department has allowed three airlines to cut passenger fuel surcharges in September. They are All Nippon Airways, Cathay Pacific and Singapore Airlines.

The maximum fuel-surcharge for short-haul flights will fall 1% to $97 while that for long-haul flights will drop 5% to $481. The applicable surcharge levels are based on the ticket issue date.

The surcharges allow airlines to partially recover the rise in operational costs due to aviation fuel price fluctuations. The department considers and approves airlines' fuel surcharge applications in accordance with bilateral Air Services Agreements.
