The Lands Department will construct temporary groynes on Upper Cheung Sha Beach, Lantau Island, and on Tuen Mun Golden Beach to stop sand erosion.
Works will begin in July for completion by September, according to a notice published in the Government Gazette today.
Two 50-metre groynes will be constructed at Upper Cheung Sha Beach. The work will affect 1.91 hectares of foreshore and seabed. The plan can be seen on notice boards near the site or at the Lands Department Survey & Mapping Office in North Point, the Islands District Office in Central, and the Mui Wo Sub-office of the Islands District Office.
Two groynes measuring 50 metres and 65 metres long will be constructed at Golden Beach. The work will affect 2.17 hectares of foreshore and seabed.
Anyone who feels they have an interest, right or easement in or over the foreshore and seabed involved in the works can submit a written objection to the Director of Lands, 20/F North Point Government Offices, 333 Java Road, North Point, by June 24.
