The Transport & Housing Bureau has proposed building a Centre Street Escalator Link in Western District to provide convenient pedestrian access on Centre Street between Third Street and Bonham Road.
The work would begin in mid-2009 for completion in 26 months.
It includes building covered escalators on Centre Street between Third Street and the access of Ying Wa Terrace, and a two-way covered escalator on Centre Street between the access of Ying Wa Terrace and Bonham Road. Related stairlifts, staircases and footpaths would be built.
The works will also involve permanent or temporary closure, or reconstruction, of sections of the existing roads and footpaths/staircase, and drainage, landscaping, electrical and mechanical works.
The proposal was gazetted today. People can view the plan and scheme at the Central & Western District Office and Hong Kong West & South District Lands Office.
Those who object to the proposed works or the use, or both, should write to the Secretary for Transport & Housing on 16th Floor, Murray Building, Garden Road, Hong Kong, by July 29.
