Lo Wu Bridge to be preserved as a monument

Lo Wu Bridge
Living history: Lo Wu Bridge will be preserved as a monument on the bank of the Shenzhen River adjacent to the Lo Wu Station.

The existing Lo Wu Bridge has been successfully relocated downstream to facilitate the construction of a new bridge for the widened Shenzhen River Lo Wu section.

Owing to its historical value, it will be preserved as a monument on the bank of the Shenzhen River adjacent to the Lo Wu Station.

The Drainage Services Department said the relocation work was successfully carried out overnight. Day-time through train and freight services were not affected.

The whole bridge was relocated without dismantling the existing features, and the shifting of the bridge across the existing railway line was the most difficult part of the operation.

The department said this is the best way to preserve the historical bridge as all existing features can be maintained. Damage to the existing bridge structure will be minimal.
