Diamond Hill design: The soon-to-be-built Hammer Hill Road Park will become a tourist hotspot.

A new scenic spot will soon help bolster Hong Kong's tourist appeal.

A traditional Chinese garden is set to open in Diamond Hill in 2006.

Hammer Hill Road Park, at 33,000 square metres, will have a design based on one of the oldest and most renowned gardens on the Mainland.

Natural water flows, rock formations and scores of plants will help make up the beautiful scenery.

A pond will form the centrepiece of the park and Tang Dynasty-style architectural features made of precious timbers will be built, along with lotus gardens.

The Leisure & Cultural Services Department today entrusted the $245 million construction project to the Chi Lin Nunnery.

Works will start in the middle of this year and will take three years to complete.
