The Hospital Authority will form a committee to review its management and follow-up services for mental-illness patients, including its liaison with other service providers in the recent incident involving a patient in Kwai Shing East Estate.
The review committee, to be chaired by Castle Peak Hospital Governing Committee Chairman and Open University President Prof John Leong, will invite views from patient groups and make improvement suggestions on community support services for patients in two months.
Non-governmental organisation representatives, New Life Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association Director Sania Yau and Richmond Fellowship Director Dr Fung Cheung-tim, will join the review committee.
Other members include Kowloon Hospital's Dr Yip Ka-chee, Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital's Dr Eva Dunn, Kowloon West Cluster's Clinical Co-ordinator (Quality & Safety) Dr Law Chun-bon, and Social Welfare Department Chief Social Work Officer (Rehabilitation & Medical Social Services) Helen Kwok.
The establishment of the committee was decided at today's Working Group on Mental Health Services meeting, Chaired by Secretary for Food & Health Dr York Chow.
