Further tests on a dead Oriental magpie robin found in Hok Tau, Pat Sin Leng, confirm it had H5N1 flu virus, the Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Department announced today.

The carcass was found on December 29 near the Hok Tau Management Centre in Pat Sin Leng Country Park. There are no commercial chicken farms within three kilometres of the site.

The species is a common resident bird in Hong Kong.

People should call 1823 if they find a sick or dead bird.
