Single offal sample salmonella tainted

*
Centre for Food Safety

A sample of cattle offal was found to contain salmonella in 292 samples of ingredients and mixed dishes of cart noodles collected from about 130 premises, the Centre for Food Safety says. All other samples passed the tests.

The unsatisfactory sample was collected from a restaurant. The centre has taken follow-up action, including issuing a warning letter.

The centre reminded the food trade to follow hygienic practices to safeguard food safety.

Raw food and ready-to-eat food should be handled separately to prevent cross contamination. Food should be properly stored and cooked thoroughly.
