Hong Kong's sex ratio has further decreased to 904 men to 1,000 women, according to the figures in the latest edition of Women & Men in Hong Kong - Key Statistics, published by the Census & Statistics Department today.

In 2007, there were 3,287,400 men and 3,638,500 women, so the ratio dropped from 912 men to 1,000 women in 2006.

The figures also show that 60.9% of the male population and 55.8% of the female population were married last year, while 37,448 boys and 33,427 girls were born.

Men also had a higher earning power, with a median monthly employment earnings of $12,000, while women, excluding foreign domestic helpers, earned $9,500.

The full set of figures can be downloaded for free at the department's website. The print version can be purchased from the department and online at the Government Bookstore at a price of $99.
