The Centre for Health Protection has confirmed the year's third leptospirosis case, involving a 49-year-old Sheung Shui man.

He came down with fever and tiredness in mid-July. He was admitted to Prince of Wales Hospital July 19 and was discharged three days later. He tested positive for leptospirosis today.

He had travelled to the Mainland before he fell ill.

Hong Kong saw two imported and one unclassified leptospirosis cases last year. In 2005 there were three imported and four local cases reported. More details about leptospirosis can be found here.
