URBTIX ticketing system to be upgraded
*
Leisure & Cultural Services Department

The Leisure & Cultural Services Department will launch its new user-friendly ticketing format October 9, to update its URBTIX system.

Tickets for most events on sale from tomorrow will be available under the new ticketing system with a range of convenient services. Patrons will enjoy round-the-clock service, more detailed event information, comprehensive venue seating plans, a faster network, instant ticket purchase and best seat selection.

The system is being provided by CityLine. Further to the existing 33 URBTIX outlets, the new system will allow patrons to purchase tickets online and through telephone bookings. The outlets have been upgraded with new terminals, faster networks and customer-oriented monitors that feature detailed event and ticketing information.

The new system will automatically offer the best seats, but customers can choose their own seats. Tickets will be mailed to customers the next working day.

The URBTIX system was launched in 1984 and was last upgraded in 1995. In 2005-06, the system sold 4.4 million tickets.

The system transition will be completed by the end of this year.
