A 28-year-old patient in Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital male psychiatric ward has come down with upper respiratory infection symptoms, the twelth since October 29.
He has been transferred to an isolation ward for treatment, while the other 11 patients aged 23 to 56 have recovered. Ten tested positive for rhinovirus, which is the common cause of colds.
All other patients in the ward are under close surveillance and infection control measures have been stepped up. The case has been reported to the Hospital Authority and the Centre for Health Protection.
