Ethnic cultural programme Culture in Motion will be introduced to promote diversity and to encourage inter-communal understanding, the Home Affairs Bureau says.
The series includes Sunday cultural programmes featuring music and dance performances, exhibitions, and other entertainment to promote the cultural heritage of Hong Kong's different ethnic communities.
The programme also aims to foster minorities' sense of belonging to Hong Kong, while retaining their own cultural identities. To enhance mutual understanding, local Chinese will be invited to join ethnic minorities in the shows.
Musical show
The programme's first activity will be a Filipino show on February 20 on Chater Road in Central at 10am. Other programmes include open-air art and photo exhibitions and traditional dance performances.
A cultural show featuring performances by respectable singers Teresa Carpio and Tara M. Polo, the Musicians Union and the MIGA International Band will start at 3pm. Participants are also invited to join traditional Filipino games at the show.
The Filipino cultural programme will end at 6pm. Admission is free. For enquiries call the bureau's Race Relations Unit on 2835 1579 during office hours.
