The Centre for Health Protection is investigating suspected ciguatoxin poisonings involving two Ma On Shan women who ate humphead wrasse on December 14.

The pair, 36 and 45, developed symptoms including numbness, diarrhoea, nausea and vomiting two to six hours after eating the fish bought from a market in Wo Che Estate, Sha Tin.

One remains in stable condition at Prince of Wales Hospital, while the other was discharged today after observation.

So far this year, the centre has received 63 reports of ciguatoxin poisoning.
