Police and the Community Chest will co-hold the Police Community Carnival 2004 on November 20 and 21 to raise charity funds and foster closer community ties.
The Police Training School and the adjacent Aberdeen Sports Ground in Wong Chuk Hang are the venues.
The carnival features wushu performances, Police dog shows, celebrities singing, an exhibition on various aspects of Police work and game booths. Officers will also perform a range of cultural performances, showing there is more to them than just police work.
Closer ties
Assistant Commissioner of Police (Training) David Thomas said it is a good opportunity for the force to realise its mission of serving the community while upholding the rule of law.
"We believe in repaying society and we do so by participating in charity. And in the process, we are building a stronger team spirit and we share positive values of selflessness, empathy and care, as well as fairness, honesty and integrity," he said.
"We aim to present a broad image of the force, quite apart from our law enforcement function and we are keen to let the community know about our mission and values, our services and future role in society."
Admission tickets at $50 are available at 22 Police Community Relations Offices and the Community Chest. A set of four Police figurines priced at $30 and $10 raffle tickets will also be on sale from October 16 at all Bank of China branches and at the carnival. Proceeds go to charity.
