Centre for Health Protection Controller Dr Leung Pak-yin will leave for Stockholm tomorrow to attend the opening ceremony of the European Centre for Disease Prevention & Control.

The Centre, set up by the European Parliament and Council, will enable its member countries to pool their scientific knowledge and respond promptly to emerging health threats.

Dr Leung is the sole representative from Asia to attend the ceremony.

Apart from delivering a statement at the ceremony, he will also meet WHO experts and other overseas disease fighters to discuss issues on the prevention and control of communicable diseases.
