Good sports: Guangdong Provincial Bureau of Sports Director Yang Naijun, Secretary for Home Affairs Dr Patrick Ho and Acting President of the Macau Sports Development Board Vong Lao Lek sign the HK, Guangdong & Macau Sports Exchange & Co-operation Agreement at Government House.

To enhance sports standards and promote a sports culture in the Pearl River Delta region, Hong Kong, Guangdong and Macau have signed an agreement on sports exchange and co-operation.

The agreement establishes the direction of exchange and co-operation in competition and community sports, exchange and training of sports personnel, scientific studies and academic exchange on sports, as well as co-operation in the sports industry.

Speaking at the signing ceremony today, Secretary for Home Affairs Dr Patrick Ho said working groups will be set up to implement various co-operation proposals, to discuss working details, and review work progress and results.

Meetings will be held in-turn, in the three jurisdictions.

Dr Ho said they will endeavour to raise the sports standard of youngsters through training and competition, and encourage the community to participate in sports and recreational activities that are good for health.
