New imported Dengue fever case confirmed
*

One more imported case of Dengue fever was today confirmed by the Department of Health, bringing Hong Kong's total number to 43 cases. All are imported except one.

The 65-year-old woman developed fever, muscle pain, chills and a skin rash on October 4 and was admitted to Ruttonjee Hospital. She is now in stable condition.

She had travelled to a Southeast Asian country from September 19 to October 2.

The department urged people to take preventive measures against the disease, such as:

* Putting all used cans and bottles into covered dustbins;

* Changing plant water at least once a week, leaving no water in saucers underneath flowerpots;

* Cover tightly all water containers, wells and water storage tanks; and,

* Keep all drains free from blockage.

Travellers should:

* Wear long-sleeved clothes and trousers;

* Use insect repellent on exposed parts of the body; and,

* Use mosquito screens or nets when the room is not air-conditioned.
