The Department of Health today confirmed one more imported case of Dengue fever and urged people to guard against the disease.
The case involves a 53-year-old man with fever, headache, and muscular, joint and eye pain on September 12. He has now recovered.
He had travelled to a Southeast Asian country from September 4 to 8.
There have been 39 dengue cases in 2003, all imported.
The department urged people to be wary of Dengue fever. Their active participation in anti-mosquito efforts is essential to preventing the disease.
People are advised to:
* Put all used cans and bottles into covered dustbins;
* Change water for plants at least once a week, leaving no water in saucers underneath flowerpots;
* Cover tightly all water containers, wells and water storage tanks; and,
* Keep all drains clear.
Travellers should:
* Wear long-sleeved clothes and trousers;
* Use insect repellent over exposed parts of the body; and,
* Use mosquito screens or nets when the room is not air-conditioned.
