Tenants' rent concerns noted: HA
*

The Housing Authority shares public housing tenants' wishes to have a rental issue resolved as soon as possible, saying it notes their concerns on the rent issue.

In a statement issued today, the authority stressed that it respects the rule of law and is following the due process of the law and established court procedures for lodging an appeal.

Given the wide implications of the judgment on public interest and public financial resources, the authority considers that it is in the overall interest of the community to have all the legal points clarified.

It reiterates its undertaking to refund, in the event of an unsuccessful court appeal, to the concerned tenants and all families affected by the Order of Mandamus the difference between the rents at existing levels and the rent that they should have been paying pending the appeal(s) in the absence of a stay of execution together with interest.
