The Fanling Magistracy today fined a 66-year-old man $3,000 for spitting in a public place.
The offence took place at Wang Fat Lane in Yuen Long on April 19.
The Food & Environmental Hygiene Department called on the public to be considerate. It said spitting not only affects public health, but also carries serious legal consequences.
