36 more Amoy Gardens residents show symptoms

Health officials are continuing to investigate Amoy Gardens after an additional 36 residents of the estate were hospitalised with atypical pneumonia symptoms. From 1pm yesterday to 1pm today, a total of 60 new patients showing signs of the illness were admitted, according to the latest figures from the Hospital Authority and the Department of Health.

 

The new patients include six healthcare workers.

 

Meanwhile,  13 patients, including 12 healthcare workers and medical students of Prince of Wales Hospital, were discharged from hospital today. To date, a total of 60 people have recovered from atypical pneumonia and been sent home.

 

Among the discharged was Prince of Wales Hospital Chief Executive Dr Fung Hong. He was not confirmed to have been infected with Coronavirus, and will be observed for a period of time.

 

Currently, of 457 patients still hospitalised with atypical pneumonia symptoms, 52 patients - less than 12% - are receiving treatment in the intensive care unit.

 

A 74-year-woman with a history of other diseases died in United Christian Hospital this morning. This brings to 13 the total number of patients who have died with atypical pneumonia in public hospitals.

 

Since March 12, 530 patients in Hong Kong have been admitted to public hospitals with atypical pneumonia symptoms.
