The Government is to share 50% of gross profits from football betting under an agreement reached with the Hong Kong Jockey Club, the Secretary for Home Affairs says.

Speaking after the opening of the Flower Show in Victoria Park, Dr Patrick Ho said the Jockey Club as an operator, had to bear considerable risks.

Details of the agreement will be presented to the Executive and Legislative Councils soon, Dr Ho said.
