Disney stamp issue coincides with groundbreaking

Hongkong Post today issued "Hong Kong Disneyland" stamps, to coincide with the groundbreaking for the theme park.

At the stamp-issuing ceremony this morning at the General Post Office, Mickey and Minnie Mouse lit up four stars, highlighting names of the four themed lands of Hong Kong Disneyland.

Postmaster General Luk Ping-chuen was joined by Commissioner for Tourism Rebecca Lai and Group Managing Director for Hong Kong Disneyland Don Robinson. Mr Luk presented framed stamps and first day covers to Mrs. Lai and Mr. Robinson.

Mr Luk noted that when Hong Kong Disneyland officially opens, "it will not only provide families in Hong Kong a leisure facility to spend their weekends, but also serve to consolidate Hong Kong's position as a tourist hotspot in Asia, help revitalise the employment market, and also boost our economic development."
