The Environmental Protection Department recorded 27 convictions in October for breaches of anti-pollution laws.

There were 12 convictions for waste disposal, 10 for air pollution, three for noise and two for hazardous chemicals. 

A company was fined $50,000 for importing controlled waste without a permit. It was the month's heaviest fine.
