In August, the Environmental Protection Department recorded 25 convictions for breaches of anti-pollution legislation.

Twelve were under the Noise Control Ordinance, 10 under the Air Pollution Control Ordinance, two under the Water Pollution Control Ordinance, and one under the Waste Disposal Ordinance.

The heaviest fine was $40,000, meted out to a person who contravened licence provisions.
