Harbour clean: Secretary for Environment, Transport & Works Dr Sarah Liao officiates at the kick-off ceremony of the education programme on Stage Two of the Harbour Area Treatment Scheme. |
The Environmental Protection Department and the Environmental Campaign Committee has launched an education programme on Stage Two of the Harbour Area Treatment Scheme.
It includes exhibitions, talks, performances and quizzes, and ties in with the public consultation on the scheme which runs to November 20.
Over 200 environmental protection ambassadors from schools, property management agents, owners' corporations, community organisations and companies attended a briefing session after the kick-off ceremony at Ocean Terminal in Tsim Sha Tsui today.
The ambassadors will help disseminate the consultation exercise's messages and encourage people to express their views on the scheme's way forward.
Stage two works required
Officiating at the ceremony, Secretary for Environment, Transport & Works Dr Sarah Liao said as stage one is insufficient to handle any sewage increase from population growth, stage two is needed.
