Storm front: Typhoon Conson's forecast track over the next few days.

The HK Observatory has lowered the Standby Signal No.1.

At 8 am, Typhoon Conson was centred about 180 kilometres south-southeast of Gaoxiong and was forecast to move northeast or north-northeast at about 14 kilometres per hour across the Luzon Strait.

Conson intensified from a severe tropical storm to a typhoon near the Philippines yesterday afternoon. It has been moving northwards.

The Home Affairs Department has deactivated its Public Enquiry Service Hotline.
