The Environmental Protection Department prosecuted 33 polluters in December. Fifteen cases involved air pollution, nine noise, five water and four waste disposal.
One company was fined $50,000 for using powered mechanical equipment that failed to meet the conditions of a construction noise permit.
Another company was fined $50,000 for failing to comply with the requirements of a noise-abatement notice.
