Donald Tsang will hold his first official visit to Russia as Chief Executive from August 31 to September 2. He will lead a 30-member business delegation to attend the Hong Kong in Moscow activities.
The visit will strengthen bilateral co-operation with Russia, promoting Hong Kong's advantages as a sourcing hub and a fund-raising platform for Russian firms, and the new opportunities arising from the growth of renminbi business in Hong Kong.
Mr Tsang will meet senior Russian officials and business leaders, officiate at a Hong Kong tourism event and another marking Cathay Pacific's launch of direct flights to Moscow, and address a business seminar organised by the Trade Development Council and Invest Hong Kong.
The Hong Kong in Moscow activities include a film event showing the innovative flair of Hong Kong's movie industry.
Secretary for Financial Services & the Treasury Prof KC Chan and Chief Executive's Office Director Raymond Tam will take part.
During Mr Tsang's absence, Chief Secretary Henry Tang will act as Chief Executive.
Meanwhile, Mr Tsang will not to attend the 6th Pan-Pearl River Delta Regional Co-operation & Development Forum & Trade Fair, being held in Fujian from today to August 29. He will stay in Hong Kong to deal with the aftermath of the Manila hostage tragedy. Secretary for Constitutional & Mainland Affairs Stephen Lam will instead lead the official delegation to the forum.
