The value of domestic exports in Hong Kong's four major industries accounted for 76% of total domestic exports of manufactured goods in 2003, the Census & Statistics Department says.
The four industries are:
* textiles;
* wearing apparel;
* machinery, equipment, apparatus, parts & components; and
* consumer electrical and electronic products.
The value of wearing apparel domestic exports rose by $100 million - or 0.4% over 2002 - to $32.6 billion in 2003.
The value of domestic exports classified as machinery, equipment, apparatus, parts & components fell $5.7 billion - or 30.6% compared with 2002 - to $12.9 billion.
Textiles industry exports fell $3.1 billion - or 7.6% - to $37.2 billion. Consumer electrical and electronic products industry exports slipped by $600 million - or 5.9% - to $8.9 billion.
As for other manufacturing industries, professional and optical equipment domestic exports' value slipped by $800 million - or 28.4% compared with 2002 - to $2.2 billion in 2003.
